Your best opportunities in this case are to hit and run, if you can’t reliably parry his attacks. The Loch Shield helps again here, especially against the lightning attacks. It made use of it very rarely in the first phase, but the orphan will pepper the arena with them as it leaps around. The other ranged attack to be mindful of is the tossed projectiles. Having bolt resistance for this fight helps, and Henryk’s gear should be heavily considered for use, or any armor with high bolt resistance, really. If you see him pause and let out a long screech (have I mentioned the sound design for this fight is great?), a storm will be called down, and you’d do well to evade it. The Orphan of Kos will start to make use of ranged attacks at this point, and he will be able to summon a small lightning storm in order to attack you. The same rules still apply, and like Lady maria, you can parry the attacks at this point too, should you be a seasoned hunter. The orphan will grow slightly, and adopt a much more aggressive manner of attack. Try and be judicious with your blood vial usage, as you want at least 10 remaining, coming into the second phase.Īs the boss nears 50%, the real fight begins. Despite the Orphan’s origin, he is not affected by them, noticeably, and your best bet is to go ahead stack up as much as you can to pump up the AR value of your most familiar weapon, as this fight boils down to you. There’s no elemental weapons to help you, and you can forget those bloodgems that increase damage dealt to Kin. To help with evasion, dodge to his left for any attacks, as most of them tend to swing in wide arcs that lean towards the right. This is the best time to try and exploit this, as his attacks will only become more aggressive. The first phase is admittedly slow, and his attacks are relatively easy to parry, especially his wind up leading to his overhead slam attack. This boss will take all of your focus, as even one mistake can deal extremely heavy damage.
#Bloodborne orphan of kos series#
The best fights in this series tend to be against a smaller humanoid enemy versus some hulking creature, and the Orphan of Kos serves to act as a brutal reminder of this. All the other bosses of the game, even Gehrman, pale in comparison, in my opinion. For an easier time, Bolt and Rapid Poison do massive damage against the Living Failures. This had to be the most difficult boss fight I’ve ever experienced in a souls game. The fight won’t end until their health bar is totally depleted, regardless of how many are killed. Keep in mind that killing a Living Failure will simply summon another Living Failure. While fighting the Living Failures, only focus on one at a time so not to get overwhelmed. Always make sure to either run counter clockwise while dodging meteors or hide by the doorway opposite the boss room entrance. RELATED: Bloodborne: Every NPC You Can Send To Oedon Chapel (& How)Įntering phase 2, the Living Failures will summon Meteors to rain down on players, dealing massive damage if hit. Two of the Living Failures will cast magic from afar while the others will target the player and attack up close. Hunters will be fighting multiple Living Failures at once, spread out around a small arena. The Living Failures aren’t anywhere near as overwhelming as Ludwig – along with being the overall easiest boss fight in the DLC – but that doesn’t mean they’re pushover. This isn’t necessarily the best idea since Ludwig will only have more health, but Valtr can buy enough openings to brute force the fight or just allow players to comfortably learn Ludwig’s move set. If you play around too much, he’ll eventually wear you down.Īnyone in the League who has the Impurity Rune equipped can also summon Valtr to distract Ludwig. In typical Bloodborne fashion, dodge in & out to keep on the offensive, not to dance around Ludwig. Players need to be ready to dodge in and out of combos in order to chain their own combos while keeping Stamina in check. Ludwig moves around rapidly, requiring a very quick and clear eye for telegraphs. Not only is Ludwig extremely aggressive – violently dishing out combos that’ll tear health to shreds – his phase changes are genuinely difficult to keep track of. Bloodborne is hard enough as is, but Ludwig exists to make sure players understand that The Old Hunters DLC operates on a higher level altogether. Get ready to die, cry, or both because Ludwig, the Holy Blade is a spike in difficulty unlike any other.
